My mom and her mom,Italian cooking was a big deal to them. I rember Christmas and other holidays. That smell all threw the house. Every one showed up to eat. The next day I'd make a fried spaghetti sandwich with just olive oil. My mom had a gallon metal can. Smelled great and tasted good as well. This stuff made me cough a tea spoon full. Doesn't smell anything like back in the day. This smells green , and taist strange. Like unripe. I don't care for it tried making a spaghetti sandwich I don't get that smell when cooking with it. Not the same at all. I rember it not at all smelling like that out of the can. And it wasn't filtered.
Thank you for sharing your memories with us. They paint a wonderful picture of the Italian family meals so many of us cherish.
The fresh, green aroma and peppery sensation you experienced are characteristics of freshly produced, high-quality extra virgin olive oil, especially when olives are harvested earlier in the season. Olive oil styles can vary significantly depending on the olive varieties, harvest timing, and production methods.
Interestingly, our olive oil is also unfiltered, so while it shares that traditional characteristic, it may simply be a different style than the one you remember.
We truly appreciate you giving Dell'Orto a try, even though it wasn't the flavor profile you were hoping for.
Excellent !!!😁👍
