Christmas at the Table: An Italian Tradition Rooted in Olive Oil
There is something magical about Christmas in Italy.
It’s not loud. It’s not rushed.
It lives at the table where generations gather, stories are retold, and food is prepared with care, patience, and love.
At Dell’Orto, Christmas has always meant one thing above all else: family, tradition, and exceptional olive oil.
A Family Table, 150 Years in the Making
For over 150 years, our family has produced extra virgin olive oil in Oliveto Citra, a small town nestled in the hills of Southern Italy, just inland from the Amalfi Coast. Every Christmas, long before Dell’Orto olive oil ever reached the United States, our oil was already at the center of the holiday table.
Not as a garnish.
Not as an afterthought.
But as a foundation.
It’s the oil used to finish roasted vegetables, to dress simple salads, to drizzle over warm bread just out of the oven, and to elevate dishes that don’t need much, because the ingredients speak for themselves.
Why Olive Oil Matters More at Christmas
Italian Christmas cooking is not about excess. It’s about quality.
Extra virgin olive oil plays a special role during the holidays:
- It brings richness without heaviness
- It enhances flavor rather than masking it
- It connects every dish back to the land and the harvest
A great olive oil doesn’t compete with food, it completes it.
That philosophy has guided Dell’Orto for generations.
From Our Family Table to Yours
When you open a bottle or tin of Dell’Orto olive oil, you’re not opening a mass-produced product. You’re opening oil made from hand-harvested olives, cold-pressed at our family mill, and bottled with care, just as it has been for decades.
Buon Natale from Our Family
This Christmas, we’re grateful to be able to share a small piece of our family’s story with yours.
From our olive groves in Southern Italy to your holiday table, we wish you warmth, joy, and many memorable meals together.
Buon Natale,
The Dell’Orto Family
